In the latest update to the casino ban, another 15,000 Singaporeans and Permanent Residents (PR) will be barred entry to the casinos at Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa. I believe this latest measure put in place is a good move. Already financially unstable, these people should not be allowed to be tempted by such a vice. Initially a move by the National Council for Problem Gambling (NCPG) which featured the casino exclusion bans, this latest measure to additionally ban financially vulnerable Singaporeans and PRs was introduced by Acting Minister for MCYS Chan Chun Sing – a proactive move from the part of the Government. With these social safeguards and more to come in time, I believe we can tackle problem gambling and curb its negative influence, especially on the locals.
