Singapore maid safety program

I found it amusing reading about the new maid programme that will focus on safety when cleaning windows, hanging laundry, changing lightbulbs and using ladders among other things. it hardly seems likely to help much when there is no concrete safety measures such as a better designed way of drying laundry, or even investing efforts into engineering a safe window cleaning tool as opposed to learning programmes where there are no physical measures to improve worker safety. We live in the 21st century where everything around us is technologically advanced (just look at our mobile devices). So then why is it that we are still sticking to the old methods of hanging out heavy and dangerous bamboo sticks to dry our clothes? I am sure there are now better ways to dry our clothes if we have time to flip to the home channels on television. Or if there isn’t maybe there will be one in a few years time.
